HAMBURG, N.Y. — Mary Kat (Bettor’s Delight) was the ‘cat’s meow’ in Buffalo Raceway’s $11,000 harness racing pace for the ladies on Wednesday afternoon (May 7) as she beat American Jazz by 2-1/2 lengths in a season’s best of 1:55.4 over the fast track.

It was a battle for supremacy in the early going as Mary Kat (Joseph Chindano Jr.) was sandwiched between American Jazz and Bolt Of Beauty. The trio sorted themselves out finally just before the opening panel as Mary Kat hit the timer in :28.0.
From there, Mary Kat ($8.80) showed the way through fractions of :57.1 and 1:27.0 as American Jazz (Kevin Cummings) drafted along in the pocket while Bolt Of Beauty stayed hung out to dry, then dropping out of contention.
In the stretch, Mary Kat put on the afterburners and extended her lead and wound up taking the comfortable 2-1/2 length score over American Jazz while the favored Summer Slash (Ray Fisher Jr.) rallied for the show spot.
Trained by Taylor Fritz and owned by Lucky Label Stables LLC, it was the sixth win in 16 appearances for the 8-year-old Mary Kat (Bettor’s Delight-Nannywithafanny). The victory moved her seasonal bankroll to $36,520 and to $332,649 in her career.
David McNeight III finished the program with three victories while Denny Bucceri and Jim Morrill Jr. had doubles. Lester Mullet had a pair of training wins.
Racing will resume on Friday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. with an 11-race program set.
