May Baby goes down the pike in Open Trot

May Baby (Guccio) and harness racing driver Braxten Boyd) captures the $16,000 featured Open Trot at Tioga Downs on Saturday (June 29).

May Baby ($5.70) darted out to the front and led to the quarter in :27.3.  She used a :30.3 second quarter to be first to the half in :58.1.  Joxter (Dan Daley) came first-up and challenged for the lead going down the backstretch.  May Baby maintained a short lead to three-quarters in 1:26.2.

As they made the turn for home second place finisher Joxter and May Baby continued to slug it out.  May Baby dug down deep and won in 1:55.0.  Duly Resolved (Tyler Miller) finished third.

May Baby is a 7-year-old mare owned by Cheyenne Yoder and trained by Brandy Wine.  It was her seventh win this season.  She now has 31 career victories.

Mike Merton drove three winners on the card.  Braxten Boyd and Tyler Miller had driving doubles.  Rob Harmon had a training double.
