Harness Analyst – Meadowlands 8th July

Harness racing’s summer stakes season continues at The Big M with two eliminations for the Meadowlands Pace for sophomores and several Graduate series finals for four-year-olds. Here are my selections and multi-race ticket ideas:

BEST BET: (1) JIGGY JOG S – Race 8

SPOT PLAY: (3) RELENTLESS JULIE – Race 5

20-Cent Pick 5 – Race 1 – 6,7,8,10/3,9/1,2,5/3,4,6/3 = $14.40

50-Cent Pick 4 – Race 6 – 1,2,3/6,7,9/1/1,4,5 = $27

20-Cent Pick 6 – Race 8 – 1/1,4,5/1,5/2,3,6,8/2,7,8,9/3 = $19.20

50-Cent Pick 4 – Race 10 – 1,5/2,3,6,8/2,7,8,9/3 = $16

Race 1 – 6-7-8-10

We kick off the Pick 5 with an amateur drivers race, and I’ll lean to (6) BIG BAD BILL on the driver change to Joe Lee.

Race 2 – 3-9-1-2

(3) HEAVENS SHOWGIRL A has been facing some good mares up north and she fits well here. She gets top billing racing out of the high percentage Drennan barn for the first time.

Race 3 – 2-1-5-8

There are several ways you could go in this wide-open race. I’ll side with (2) WHITECOOKIE who drops and moves inside.

Race 4 – 6-3-4-5

We have another amateur drivers race here. (6) KERFORD ROAD A has been facing tougher and he should be live in this spot; top call.

Race 5 – 3-9-8-1

(3) RELENTLESS JULIE steps up off a loss but she gets Tetrick and a probable good setup for her late kick. She should also offer a square price in this spot.

Race 6 – 3-1-2-4

(3) FULTON paced a strong mile in the North America Cup racing first up with the pace scenario playing against him. I expect a big speed try here in the first of two Meadowlands Pace eliminations.

Race 7 – 6-7-9-10

(6) CAPTAIN KIRK tried a middle move to the front at Scioto, and he was denied the lead in a fast third 1/4 tussle. He can rebound here at a good price.

Race 8 – 1-2-6-4

(1) JIGGY JOG S is the clear best trotter in North America right now and I don’t see her getting beat tonight.

Race 9 – 1-4-5-2

(1) DREAMFAIR ARNIE B has raced well in every start for Pelling, and I can see him tripping out as the probable third choice in this Graduate series final.

Race 10 – 1-5-3-4

This is the second Meadowlands Pace elimination and (1) CONFEDERATE, who raced huge in defeat in the North America Cup final, is the clear top choice.

Race 11- 8-6-2-3

(8) POINT OF PERFECT looked sharp winning at this level last week and he gets the call to repeat off that strong performance.

Race 12 – 9-2-7-8

(9) MONGOLIAN HERO N beat most of these last week and he will likely clear to the front as they pass the 1/4 then control this race on the engine.

Race 13 – 3-1-6-2

(3) LYONS PEGASUS drops and gets Gingras back and he should control this race from the outset. He will be a multi-race single for me.
