NO LIVE RACING THIS WEEK
Hollywood Casino at The Meadows is currently in its regularly scheduled “fall break” for track maintenance. There is no live harness racing this week, but the casino and racebook remain open. We invite our local racing fans to join us for simulcast action from the Little Brown Jug in Delaware, Ohio. Qualifying races will return on Tuesday, September 23, with parimutuel action returning the following day.
FALL SCHEDULE STARTS NEXT WEEK
When live racing returns on Wednesday, September 24, The Meadows will enter its fall, 3-day-per-week schedule. Races will take place Wednesday, Thursday and Friday afternoons at 12:45pm. The only exception will be a special Friday evening Pink Out card on October 10 at 5:10pm.
UNEXPECTED TRACK RECORD
With several Keystone Classic stake races on the card this past Saturday, the chance of a track record being set was high. However, the record that was equaled that afternoon was not in one of the main events. Winslow, a four-year-old trotting gelding, was making his second local start for owner David Yoder and trainer Dana Kahrig, in a mid-level conditioned trot for an $8,000 purse.
Driver Aaron Merriman sent the son of Swan For All to the front in 26.3, then cut fractions of 55.3 and 1:23 en route to a 1:51.3 clocking.
WINSLOW REPLAY
The mile was one of the top-10 fastest trotting miles in track history, and equaled the standard for four-year-old geldings. It was the ninth win in Winslow’s 43-start career.
