THIS WEEK’S HARNESS RACING SCHEDULE

Hollywood Casino at The Meadows will be racing this Wednesday and Thursday afternoons at 12:45.  Friday evening’s card will begin at 5:10PM, and we’ll have a special 11:30AM post time on Saturday, which is Belmont Day.

11 RACES ON TAP FOR FRESHMEN

A total of 14 qualifying races are scheduled for Tuesday morning (June 6), with 11 of those set aside for 2YO trotters and pacers.  A total of 69 freshmen are slated to try to qualify.  Post time for the first race will be 10:30AM, and the races will be shown live on the Meadows Standardbred Owners Association’s Facebook page.  Among the group of freshmen are two $100,000 yearlings:  What An Ocean View (Downbytheseaside, $120,000), drawn into Race #5, and Rip Tide (Downbytheseaside, $100,000), in Race #9.  Both are in the Ron Burke Stable.

JUJUBEE TO QUALIFY AGAIN

Trotting star Jujubee will also qualify on Tuesday, leaving from post 7 in the 3rd race.  The now 5-year-old son of Creatine qualified a winner in 1:56 a week ago.  Trainer Greg Wright Jr drove last Tuesday, but has listed Mike Wilder this week.

TOP DRIVERS/TRAINERS FOR THE WEEK

Driver Ronnie Wrenn had the hot hand last week at The Meadows, posting 12 wins in 24 starts, including 6 winning drives on Saturday.  He has now won 27.5% of his Meadows drives this season (120 for 436).  Trainer Ron Burke became the first local trainer this season to reach 100 wins, with 6 for the week to bring his season total to 101.  Dirk Simpson added 4 wins for the week, while Brandon Presto recorded 3.  Presto moved into the #3 spot for the season with 37 wins.  Trainer Dean Collins has moved into the top 10, with 18 wins.  The veteran conditioner sent out 5 horses from his barn last week, recording 2 wins and a third.
