HARNESS RACING THIS WEEK

Hollywood Casino at The Meadows will be racing our regular summer schedule this week.  Wednesday and Thursday afternoons at 12:45, Friday evening’s card will begin at 5:10PM, and Saturday’s card will begin at 12:45.

POP UP SERIES ANNOUNCED

The Meadows’ Race Office has announced that they will be writing Pop Up Series events for two-year-old trotters and pacers.  The events will have no nomination fee and no starting fee.  The first series, for 2YO pacing fillies, will begin next Wednesday, June 28, with entries closing this Friday morning.  On Friday, June 30, the series will begin for 2YO trotting colts/geldings and 2YO pacing colts/geldings.  Due to a sire stake, the event for 2YO trotting fillies will be pushed to the second week of July.  Each series will have 2 legs, each for a $10,000 purse, and a $15,000 final.

11 RACES FOR FRESHMEN ON TUESDAY

A total of 15 qualifying races are scheduled for Tuesday morning (June 20), with 11 of those set aside for 2YO trotters and pacers.  Post time for the first race will be 10:30AM, and the races will be shown live on the Meadows Standardbred Owners Association’s Facebook page.

 TRAINER REPORT

Parity was the word for the week at The Meadows over the past 4 cards, with no trainers recording more than 4 wins for the week. Ron Burke continues to lead the way with 110 wins, while Dirk Simpson’s 2 wins for the week put him at 60.  Stacey Currie continues to lead all trainers in winning percentage (46.7%) and UTRS rating (.604).

WILDER HAS SOLID WEEK

Mike Wilder led the way over the past 4 cards with 9 wins from 43 drives.  Ronnie Wrenn added 6 wins for the week (23 drives), while Dave Palone and Hunter Myers each recorded 5 wins.  Wilder improved his UDRS rating from .320 to .324.  Wrenn leads in UDRS (.411) while Palone is tops in wins with 159.

60TH ANNIVERSARY COMING UP
