REGULARLY SCHEDULED PROGRAMMING

Hollywood Casino at The Meadows will be working under its regular summer harness racing schedule this week, with action on Wednesday and Thursday at 12:45pm, Friday evening at 5:10pm, and Saturday at 12:45pm.  The next change to the schedule will be next weekend, as there will be no live racing on Saturday, August 24 due to the annual Corks & Kegs Festival.

RACING & A MOVIE

Friday, August 30 will be the final “Under The Lights” racing card of the summer, and The Meadows racing team is putting together a special night for racing fans.  Everyone is invited to bring their lawn chairs and blankets, enjoy the races, then stick around for a showing of the Hollywood classic Top Gun on the infield big screen.  Food and beverage specials will be offered that night as well, with additional details coming soon.  In September, Friday racing will move to a 12:45pm post.

WINNING STREAKS

Two lengthy winning streaks were on the line this past week at The Meadows, from a pair of trotters.  Splendid (Father Patrick), a 3YO from the Todd Rooney Stable, put his 8-race streak on the line by moving up from the Stallion Series to the top-level PA Sire Stake on Friday.  The colt finished third, trotting in 1:54.3 for driver Chris Lems.  He is now 8-for-11 on the season.  On Saturday, Distant Drums (Trixton), trained by Sarah Andrews and driven by Mike Wilder, overcame post 8 to win in a career-best 1:53.2.  The 5-year-old gelding is now 7-for-7 since coming back after an 18-month layoff.  In the first part of his career, he was 1-for-8.

If you would like additional information at any point, please reach out to track announcer Jeff Zidek (jeff.zidek@pennentertainment.com).
