MARCH SERIES START, NEXT ROUND ACCEPTING NOMINATIONS
The first four Spring Series harness racing events at The Meadows are getting underway this week, beginning with Wednesday afternoon’s Donna Dunn Pacing Series for three- and four-year-old female pacers. Two divisions are carded as races 11 and 12. The second group of events, which will be for three-year-olds only, will have a March 15 nomination deadline. For additional information, contact The Meadows’ Race Office.
5-for-6
It’s unusual for a horse these days to make his career debut at age 4. It’s even more unusual for a horse to come out and win five of its first 6 career starts. Colorado Joe has done both. The Creatine gelding actually did make it to the track as a three-year-old, qualifying on December 10 and December 31 at The Meadows. His first career start for owner Joe Mucci and trainer Andy Rickert was on January 8 of this year, a fourth place finish in 2:02.4. Since then, the trotter has reeled off five consecutive wins. This past Wednesday, he was a winner in 1:57.2, a career best.
5-for-7
Trainer Miles Wollam’s five wins this year won’t quite place him in the top-10, but his trainer rating is certainly eye popping. Wollam’s wins this year have come from just 7 starts, a winning percentage of 71.4.
REGULAR RACING SCHEDULE THIS WEEK
