GUARANTEED POOL FOR NEW WAGER
In partnership with the USTA’s Strategic Wagering Program and the Meadows Standardbred Owners Association, Hollywood Casino at The Meadows announces a guaranteed pool for the track’s new wager, the Lucky7. The wager will have a guaranteed $3,000 pool this Wednesday, March 6. With a $1 minimum and a 15% takeout, the wager will take place daily beginning in Race 3. It is not a jackpot wager – all full winning tickets will share in the pool, with a 100% carryover of the net pool if no 7-of-7 tickets are sold.
LARGE FIELDS FOR OPENING LUCKY 7
The first Lucky7 will be a challenge for bettors. The seven races will feature 63 entries, an average of 9 per race. One of the races will have 8 entrants, five will have 9 entrants, and one will have a 10-horse field which includes a trailer. The following day, a total of 62 horses have been entered in the 7-race Lucky7, with one 8-horse field and six 9-horse fields. Posts for Thursday were drawn this morning (Monday, March 4) and scratch time is Tuesday at 10AM before the card is finalized.
SERIES RACES START WEDNESDAY
Speaking of that 10-horse field on Wednesday, it is the opening event of The Meadows’ annual Spring Series races. The Donna Dunn Memorial Series, for 3- and 4-year-old pacing fillies and mares, drew 10 horses into one division, carded as Race #7 on the Wednesday card. Deja Jade, a 3YO filly by Captain Crunch, has been installed as the 9-5 morning line favorite for The Stable.ca, trainer Tim Twaddle, and driver Anthony MacDonald. Horses will be earning points in each of two series legs to make the final, which is set for March 20.
TWO SERIES START THURSDAY
Trotters will be featured on a 14-race card this Thursday, March 7. Two different series will kick off that afternoon, the Mary Wohlmuth Memorial Series for 3- and 4-year-old fillies and mares, and the Dale McConnell Memorial Series for 3- and 4-year-old colts, stallions and geldings. Each race has drawn 2 divisions.
