Melvin G (E L Platinum) won the $50,850 Bally’s Dover Late Closer for Three Year Old Colt and Gelding Trotters at Bally’s Dover on Tuesday night. It was Melvin G’s 11th consecutive pari-mutuel harness racing victory.

Driver Jim Morand and Melvin G took full advantage of the strong wind conditions and blasted to the top.
Melvin G, the 1/9 betting favorite, aggressively set all of the race fractions. The opening quarter was 29. The half was reached in 58, a 29.quarter. Melvin G continued on an uncontested lead and marched to the three quarters in 1:27.1 in a moderate 29.1 quarter.
Legend Of Rock, who lost to Melvin G by a nose last week, saved energy in the pocket. Brass Survivor raced first over but was unable to cut into the lead of Melvin G.
Turning for home, Legend Of Rock weakened in the pocket and Bucky Highway saved ground along the pylons but that bid stalled..
Melvin G romped to a five length victory trotting the mile in 1:57.1. He paid $2.40 for the win. Brass Survivor finished 2nd and Bucky Highway was 3rd.

Swan In Motion won wire to wire in 1:53.4 against conditioned trotters later on the betting card.

Wednesday’s 6th race on the betting card features the $51,750 Bally’s Dover Late Closer Final for Three Year Old Trotting Fillies.
The $25,000 Mares Open Handicap Pace takes place on the12th race.
