EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ – Dave Miller and Dexter Dunn have both been on a roll of late, so it came as a surprise to no one when the dynamic harness racing driving duo combined for seven wins on the Friday night card at The Meadowlands.
Miller, who has now won at least one race on seven consecutive programs at the mile oval, led the way with four victories, scoring with Skyway Billy ($9.20 to win) in the second race, I’ll Owe You One ($6.60) in the third, Badditude ($4.00) in the sixth and Miss Maycee ($4.00) in the 14th.
MISS MAYCEE REPLAY
The man in the purple colors currently sits atop The Big M driver standings with 30 walks down victory lane.
Dunn, who has won at least once on all six Meadowlands programs on which he’s driven since his return from vacation on Feb. 3, scored three times on the program. The Dan Patch Driver of the Year from 2019-22 won with Devious Mojito As ($4.60) in the seventh race, American Way ($3.60) in the ninth and Miss Chantilly N ($5.60) in the 12th.
MISS CHANTILLY N REPLAY
What made Miller and Dunn’s evening more impressive was three of the dashes on the 14-race card were restricted to members of the Meadowlands Amateur Driving Club, leaving just 11 races for the “regular” drivers.
Brett Beckwith connected with a pair of winners (Shinkansen in the fourth race, $4.20; and Dribbling Bi in the 13th, $46.20), meaning that Miller, Dunn and Beckwith took nine of the 11 available dashes.
A LITTLE MORE: Betting stayed on a roll as a total of $3,092,279 was the all-source handle, giving The Big M eight consecutive programs when wagering has exceeded the $3-million mark. Overall, betting has been in excess of $3 million on 12 of 14 programs this year. … The one shrewd handicapper who included Dribbling Bi on his or her ticket hit big in the 20-cent Pick-6, as that lone winner collected $7,880. … Racing resumes Saturday at 6:20 p.m.
