12yo wins sixth straight

Bangor, Maine … Mr Fantasy’s (Bettor’s Delight) wild ride continued on Wednesday (May 22) at Bangor Raceway as the 12-year-old scored his sixth consecutive win with driver Dan Deslandes in his customary seat.

The veteran pacer rocketed off the gate, careening into the first turn already with a one-length lead, as Deslandes discouraged early engagement through a smart 28.3 opening panel.

With coaster brakes applied, the tempo was imperceptibly throttled down in old school fashion, as fantasy became stark reality for the field after being lulled to the half in 58.3.

From that point home, Mr Fantasy simply toyed with challenges from the outer flow, refusing to be headed, as he extended out to three lengths the best at the wire, timed in a seasonal best 1:57.2.

The win marked the 33rd victory lap for the Jeff Deslandes trainee who is owned by Mo Coo, Inc.

“He been very solid since coming to Maine and continues to be a pleasant surprise as the owner was considering selling him before sending him to us” Jeff Deslandes remarked, “He goes just what he has to go to get the job done but fights every step of the mile. He’s just one of those game, tough as nails campaigners and we’re grateful to have him in the barn”.

The win was one of two on the program for Dan Deslandes who was joined in the ‘Double your Pleasure Club’ on Wednesday by drivers Steven Wilson, Aaron Hall, and Drew Campbell.

Trainer Mark Harris also doubled up, sending two winners to the gate from his Bangor based roster.
