Monticello, NY— David Yarock and Mr Ridgetaker (Tom Ridge) made every pole a winning one enroute to a 2:01.1 harness racing victory in the $7,500 North American Amateur Drivers Association (NAADA) trot this afternoon at Monticello Raceway.
Dismissed and sent off at odds of over 7-1 despite starting from the pole position, the veteran gelding returned a healthy $17.80 win mutuel.
When the starter said “go”, Mr Ridgetaker zipped to a two-length lead in a relatively soft :30.1 seconds over betting favorite, Makin Trouble K (Tony Ciuffetelli). They then raced one-two by the half before being joined by Karets (Chris Petrelli).
But Mr Ridgetaker was in solid control, and he got first call as he zipped by the three-quarters in 1:30.4 four lengths in front. In the lane Paul Minore had Racintowardadream in high gear and he ranged alongside the leader, but he couldn’t get by, and they raced heads apart to the wire as Mr Ridgetaker was the first home in 2:01.1. Minore’s trotter was second best and Karets garnered the show dough
