The 2023 harness racing season will start at the Yonkers Raceway Hilltop Oval on January 16.

The meet will feature a new condition sheet, great purses, five days of racing per week over 240 days, a 1-million-dollar international event, a new Jumbotron tote board, and a slanted starting gate.

The new Yonkers Raceway slanted starting gate being tested at Miami Valley Raceway

Thanks to the efforts of the SOA of NY Board of Directors for pushing the gate initiative, especially directors Jordan Stratton and Ray Schnittker. The gates were tested at Miami Valley and loaded up today by Mike Woebkenberg of Ohio.

The SOA welcomes all horsemen accepted to the initial meet of 2023. Good luck to one and all.

We encourage all to join and support the SOA of NY as there will be bonuses to members over the year but more importantly there is a need to present a united front to ensure that all efforts your organization has secured over all these years is not removed by those seeking to do just that.
