There was no horse sold for $1 million this year at the 11th annual Mid-Ohio Memorial Trotting Sale held Friday, May 26 at the Mt. Hope, OH Amish auction. In fact, the sale topper went this year for just $250,000.

There was a record crowd estimated to be at over 12,000 people at this year’s sale under sunny skies as 158 horses were sold under the auctioneer’s gavel.

All eyes in the harness racing world were set on #25, Lindy The Great (Crazed), as the career winner of $1.4 million was entered in the sale to begin a new occupation as a Roadster Stallion, but that did not happen as he was sold for $145,000..

“Lindy The Great was sold to Christian Kauffman,” said co-owner Julie Miller.” “He signed as buyer. I was told he is going to Michigan.”

The sale topper was #61 Jasper The Man (Ouman – Lady Anna Dynasty – Keystone Forego) who was purchased by Pleasant Ridge Equine of Goshen, Indiana for $250,000. The four-year-old stallion featured a good out-cross pedigree, natural talent and superb conformation. He will go directly to the breeding shed.

The next highest sale was #31 Massive Koz (Dream On Koz), who brought $210,000. He was purchased by Sam Schwartz. Massive Koz is a four-year-old stallion standing 16.1 hands and was said to have flawless conformation.

The most visited booth display at the sale had a TV set showing many of the top harness races from the 2022 season and there was a crowd of people constantly watching the race videos from when the TV was first turned on at 7:00 am until 7:00 pm. Many of the viewers were Amish children who had never seen harness races before.
