For the second straight week there was no stopping American History as he handled a class hike and captured the $34,500 Preferred Pace harness racing feature at the Meadowlands Saturday.
It was race favorite Covered Bridge and driver Yannick Gingras who started off the tenth race feature on the lead but by the opening quarter mile in :28.2, driver Todd McCarthy had American History on the move and in the lead as they reached the half mile marker in :56.1.
With American History content on the front-end, it was Sonny Weaver N (Jason Barlett) who started up first-over with Patrikthepiranha A (George Brennan) grabbing the outside flow cover as the field past the three-quarters in 1:23.1.
Coming down the stretch it was American History in front with Coverage Bridge trying to gain ground and with one final surge to the wire it took the photo finish camera declaring American History the winner by a long nose over Covered Bridge in 1:49.4. Sonny Weaver N was third.
AMERICAN HISTORY
Trained by Tony Alagna, it was the second win on the year for American History. The seven-year-old stallion by American Ideal is owned by Brad Grant of Milton, ON. He paid $10.00 to win.
