Harness Analyst – Northfield Park 12th July

There is a competitive card of harness racing on tap tonight at the “Home of the Flying Turns”, Northfield Park.  Here are my selections and multi-race tickets for the entire 15-race card:

BEST BET: (4) OVER AND BACK – Race 14

SPOT PLAY: (3) UNION GROVE – Race 3

$1 Pick 4 – Race 2 – 3,5/1,3,4,5,7/2/1,2,3,9 = $40

$1 Pick 5 – Race 6 – 3/1,2,3,4/1,2,4/6/4,6 = $24

50-Cent Pick 6 – Race 8 – 1,2,4/6/4,6/3,7,9/1,5,6 = $27

$1 Pick 4 – Race 11 – 3,7,9/1,5,6/2,3/4 = $18

Race 1 – 1-2-6-3-5

(1) BROADWAY LIBERTY finds a good spot here and he draws the rail to boot. He has a good chance to lead all the way and top the High-5.

Race 2 – 3-5-1-2

(3) BEAUTIFUL LATHER faces easier and draws better and she gets the nod to break her maiden here as we kick off the early Pick 4.

The $1 Pick 4 kicks off here with a field of inexperienced two-year-old trotters.

Race 3 – 3-1-7-4

This looks like a race where we might be able to get a price for the Pick 4. I’ll side with (3) UNION GROVE, who comes off a strong effort from post 8 now draws inside.

Race 4 – 2-6-3-1

(2) SUMMER FUN ships in from Scioto, faces easier and moves into a barn winning at a 33% strike rate at this meet. She will be a Pick 4 single for me.

Race 5 – 9-2-1-3

Tough race here with so many wanting the front. I’m thinking (9) HIT EM UP DUDE tracks some battling and gets past the leaders late in the mile.

Race 6 – 3-2-9-8

(3) WALLOP makes his first start for The Stable after a private purchase and he looks good here adding Lasix. He will probably jog as a big favorite.

Race 7 – 1-2-4-3

(1) HARDT AT WORK fits better here and his speed should carry starting from the rail. He is the one to catch and beat.

Race 8 – 1-2-4-3

(1) PHOTO TOM raced well from a wide post last time, just missing in the end. He should be tough to beat starting from the rail tonight.

Race 9 – 6-7-9-8

(6) EXPRESSO JOE was in much faster non-winners of two races at The Meadows and he figures to be tough to beat tonight.

Race 10 – 4-6-5-8

(4) REICHERS CAVIAR just missed as the chalk at this level last week. He should get the job done tonight.

Race 11- 7-9-3-2

(7) EXECUTIVE DASH N was 2nd when dropped to this level now he returns in 7 days for tonight’s race. He gets the nod to kick off the late Pick 4.

Race 12 – 1-6-5-2

(1) SON OF SONA got hung out to dry when he dropped to this level in his most recent start. He can’t get parked the mile starting from the rail here. I look for him to go right down the road.

Race 13 – 3-2-1-9-7

Northfield offers a High-5 in this race with a $10,000 guaranteed pool. (3) LANISTER HANOVER should have a big shot of wiring this field.

Race 14 – 4-2-3-1

(4) OVER AND BACK trotted a huge mile to win at this level last time and he should be very tough to beat in here.

Race 15 – 1-4-3-2

(1) DRINK UP DRINK UP comes off a sharp win in this class and this field looks no tougher. He should double up at a short price.
