Northfield, OH – MGM Northfield Park will host eight Ohio County Fair Consolation events as part of their harness racing card on Saturday night, October 29. While the Ohio County Fair Championships (scheduled for October 15 at MGM Northfield) have been around for several years, this is the first time Consolations for horses that did not make the County Fair Championships will be contested.
Purses will range from $12,000 to $15,000 for the eight consolation races (one division each for two-and-three-year-olds of both gaits and sexes), based on field size.
Top point earners and/or horses that raced in the Ohio Sires Stakes Championship or the Ohio Fairs Final are ineligible for the Consolation races. All other horses that were paid into the Ohio Fairs Final and started in at least one Ohio County Fair are encouraged to enter by 9 AM on Monday morning, October 24.
The top nine eligible point earners, plus one also eligible, will be drawn into race in each division. A division must have at least six eligible entrants (no more than two per owner or trainer) in order to fill. Horses must show at least one clean line within MGM Northfield’s qualifying standards within 45-days of October 29. There is no entry fee for this event.
Please contact MGM Northfield Park’s Director of Racing Dave Bianconi at 330-467-4101 ext. 52300 (race office) or dbianconi@mgmnorthfieldpark.com with any questions.
