Rose Run Vincent (And Away We Go – Real Housewife) and driver/trainer David Lake and Delightful Summer (Quality Western– Midsummer Delight) and driver Kody Massey captured the co-featured Open Trot and Mares Open Pace respectively on Friday’s (Jan. 5) opening night harness racing program at Northville Downs.
In the $10,800 Open Trot, Travlin Swan and driver Art McIlmurray fired to the front and put up fractions of 28.2, 57.4, three-quarters in 1:27.2, all-the-while being stalked in the pocket by Rose Run Vincent. As they came into the stretch, the aforementioned Rose Run Vincent slingshot past the early pacesetter to go on to win the Open in a final clocking of 1:57.4 by a three-quarter-length margin. Travlin Swan held on for second and Mystical Lane was up for third.

Rose Run Vincent collected his 21st career victory and is owned by David Beachy.
In the $10,800 Mares Open, Allboutthematerial and driver David Lake rocketed to the early lead, setting the pace in 28.2 to the quarter, 58.2 to the half, 1:27.2 to three-quarters as Delightful Summer and pilot Kody Massey stalked from the pocket to the head of the lane. As they turned for home, Delightful Summer and the drafting position proved too much as she went by to take the Mares Open by a half- length over Allboutthematerial in 1:56.0 with Sanna Cruza A getting up for third.
It marked Delightful Summer’s 20th career win. She is owned by Crazy Parrot Farm and trained by Danielle St. Louis.
DELIGHTFUL SUMMER REPLAY
Marc St. Louis, Jr, David Lake and Justin Irvine all had driving doubles on the night and Danielle St. Louis and David Lake had training doubles on the program.
