The Friday (Aug. 4) harness racing spotlights at Northville Downs were on races five and six as 9-year-old pacing mare Juxta Cowgirl (Relentless Yankee – Juxtaposition) and driver/trainer Art McIlmurray captured the Mares Open Handicap Pace in 1:55.1 by two and three-quarters lengths while I Get It (Dontyouforgetit – Less Stress) captured the Open Trot with owner/trainer/driver Bob Rowland in 1:57.4, an easy victory.
In the Mares Open Pace, Art McIlmurray and Juxta Cowgirl did the give and go early with Delightful Summer and Drew Neill before setting sail on her seven rivals and never looking back, as her back class prevailed. Cousin Margie closed well for second while Skyway Rockatop snagged the show dough.
JUXTA COWGIRL REPLAY
The victory was the 53rd of Juxta Cowgirl’s career. She is owned by Rick Howles.
In the co-featured Open Trot, I Get It and Bob Rowland went coast-to-coast cruising to a widening three and a quarter lengths victory over second place finisher Saulsgood with Holton hanging on for third.
It was the 57th career win for I Get It and his fifth win on the season.
I GET IT REPLAY
Driver Art McIlmurray had a driving double on the night.
