Monticello, N.Y. – The New York Sires program returns to Monticello Raceway on Monday, July 19, when two-year-old harness racing pacing fillies will highlight the 13 races card with over $180,000 in purses. Post time is 12:10 p.m.
On the program, there are three splits of NYSS racing for a purse of $34,200 each, four dashes of Excelsior A ($15,000) and two heats of the Excelsior B ($6,700).
The first division of Sire Stakes action starts in Race 8. Reenactment (PP6) was a winner last start at Chester, scoring in 1:56.1 for trainer Linda Toscano. Scott Zeron will drive. Su Su Sussudio (PP5) took a mark of 1:59 by virtue of her win in the Landmark Series at Goshen. She will be driven by Renaldo Morales III.
The second heat is a seven-horse field. Just Divine (Yannick Gingras) will score from the rail. The $160,000 yearling has been installed the 5-2 morning line favorite. The daughter of Huntsville was second last start at the Meadowlands, pacing her mile in 1:51.3. Last quarter was an eye popping 25.3. A Girl That Twirls (Simon Allard) won her NYSS heat at Buffalo in 1:55.2 in her last start and will start from post 5 for trainer James Lackey.
In the last division of Sire Stakes, Twenty Grand will start from the outside post 7 for trainer Ray Schnittker, with Mark Macdonald handling the driving chores. She was a NYSS winner last week in Buffalo in 1:56.4. Throw The Dice (PP6) was sharp in her last effort in Chester, were she scored in 1:54.3. The daughter of American Idea is trained by Linda Toscano with Scott Zeron in the sulky.
The New York Sire Stakes returns to Monticello on Monday, July 26, when three-year-old trotting fillies take the stage.
