NYSS at Vernon Downs on Memorial Day

Vernon Downs will play host to two divisions of New York Sire Stakes (NYSS) for 3-year-old harness racing trotting fillies and three divisions of the NYSS for 3-year-old trotting colts & geldings on Monday (May 27).

R Melina (Chapter Seven) and driver Tyler Buter are the 3-2 morning line favorite in the $59,200 first division for the fillies.  The filly is trained by John Butenschoen. She is coming off a NYSS win in her season debut at Yonkers last week.  She owns eight career victories.

The Marcus Melander trained Date Night Hanover (Dexter Dunn) looks to be the one to beat in the $58,100 second division for fillies.  The filly by Chapter Seven has four career victories including a win in the Kentucky Sire Stakes final as a freshman.

Super Duper Cooper (E L Titan) and driver Jason Bartlett are the 2-1 morning line favorite in the NYSS $39,23) first division for the boys.  John Butenschoen trains the gelding is two for two in 2024 and has three career victories.

Victor Laszlo (Mark MacDonald) by Chapter Seven is the 2-1m morning line favorite in the $39,233 second division.  After a winless freshman season the colt has four wins in five starts this season.

Trainer George Ducharme sends out Keep Asking (Chapter Seven) with Tyler Buter are the 2-1 morning line favorite in the $39,233 third division.  The colt has six career victories.

The 11-race Memorial Day matinee starts at 12:15 p.m.
