Grove City, OH –Ten Dayton area charities benefited from the generosity of Ohio harness racing horsemen as part of the Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association’s charity night at Hollywood Dayton Raceway.
The charities participating in the event were paired with a horse in the eighth race on Saturday afternoon October 7. Each charity received a donation from the OHHA for participating, with the top three finishers receiving larger donations. First place received $10,000, second place received $5,000, and third place $3,000. All other finishers received $2,000 donations.
Trevor Smith went three-wide up the backstretch with Summa Beach and pulled away to win by four lengths for Pink Ribbon Good, netting the charity that supports people and families affected by breast and gynecological cancers with meals, rides, cleaning, and other support a $10,000 donation.
Shezaballofterror with Dan Noble finished second for 4 Paws of Ability earning the charity $5,000, while Mother of Dragons with Kayne Kaufman finished third for Ronald McDonald House Charities Dayton which received $3,000.
The other charities represented were Fisher/Nightingale Houses, Inc., Honor Flight Dayton, Peace and Tranquility Lake Corp., Shoes 4 the Shoeless, Toys for Tots/United States Marine Corps, United Rehabilitation Services, and With God’s Grace.
A total of $32,000 was donated to the charities by the Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association.
