Grove City, OH – The Ohio Harness Horsemen's Association (OHHA) will host "Saturday Night at the Races" presented by the Galbreath Equine Center at The Ohio State University Veterinary Medical Center on October 10, from MGM Northfield Park on Facebook live. OHHA coverage will include the eight fair finals which are races three through ten on the 16-race harness racing card. Coverage will begin at 6:15 PM.
The 2020 Ohio Fair Finals will be contested for two- and three-year-old trotters and pacers. The eight finals will be contested for total purses of $320,000 with each division going for $40,000.
This season the Ohio Colt Racing Association, Ohio Fair Racing Conference Home Talent Colt Stakes, and Southern Valley Colt Circuit held races at 65 County Fairs in the Buckeye State. The various races were contested by 712 standardbreds (400 pacers-312 trotters) at the fairs. The group saw 412 two-year-olds and 300 three-year-olds go to the post.
The finals have a field of eight for the two-year-old events and nine in the 3-year-old races.
The trotters are led on the filly side by two-year-old Designer Specs who is a perfect 13 for 13 on the year with a mark of 1:58.3 and earnings of $36,664. The daughter of Full Count out of Avalon Hall will be driven by Ryan Stahl for trainer Jayne Weller. The colt division is led by Ohmyheart with Cameron McCown for Jason Hanna. The Dontyouforgetit out of Peg O My Heart has eight wins in 11 starts and has earnings of $34,531.
The two-year-old filly pacers are led by Forever Missy, who has won seven times this year in 13 starts and has earned $22,170. The filly by McArdle out of Forever Cam will be driven by Kurt Sugg for trainer Cory Deyermand. In the colt division, the leader is Atta Boy Chris. The son of Big Bad John out of Chicascape has eight wins in 14 starts and has earned $21,173. Ken Holliday will drive for trainer Darrell Hooser.
In the three-year-old division, the filly trotters are led by Flaming Andie with Kurt Sugg and trainer Jessica Millner. Flaming Andie is looking for her sixth win of the year. The And Away We Go filly out of Short Vacation has earned $23,911 in 2020. The top spot in the colt division is Blazintothefront by Full Count out of Lynn's Slider. Blazintothefront has seven wins in 24 starts and has earned $34,210. The driver will be Chris Page for trainer Vernon Beachy.
In the pacing ranks, the top filly is Bad Ms Johnson by Big Bad John out of Jenava. She has won 13 times in 23 starts, earning $46,030. Bad Ms Johnson will be handled by trainer-driver Hank Le Van. The top colt is Cody Hanover. Trainer Derek Watiker has tabbed Mike Wilder to drive the son of Dragon Again out of Calgary Hanover. Cody Hanover has won 11 of 17 starts and has earned $47,516.
