A plethora of Ohio Sires Stakes contests

A plethora of Ohio Sires Stakes contests are set to be contested this weekend in the Buckeye State, at both Scioto Downs and Northfield Park.

Beginning Friday, Aug. 13, Scioto Downs will play host to three $40,000 divisions for 2-year-old filly trotters and two $50,000 divisions for 2-year-old filly pacers.

Set to return in the trotting division is Stephanie Hill, who captured Legs 1 and 2 in 2:00.4 and 1:58 respectively. Also vying is Be My Baby Now, who took Leg 2 in 1:58 .2 and Blaze Of Justice who captured her second leg division in 2:00.3, as well as Caviar Roxie Due, who won both of the first two legs in 1:58.4 and 1:59.2. Leg 1 winners Martysmagicmoment (1:58.3) and Gabby’s C Note (1:58.1) also return for third round action.

In the freshman filly pacing ranks both Cape Cod Hanover (1:53.3, 1:53.1) and Sea Silk (1:53.3, 1:52.2) return to battle after each captured both of the first two legs of this series. Leg 1 winner Secret Side Piece (1:53.3) and Leg 2 winner Dragon Lady (1:54) will also vie, as will Leg 1 winner Cold Hearted Gypsy (1:53.1) and Leg 2 winner Hotshot Temptress (1:51.2).

Northfield Park offers up three $40,000 divisions for 2-year-old trotting colts; two $50,000 divisions for 2-year-old pacing colts; and two $50,000 divisions for 3-year-old trotting colts.

Leg 1 winners Chulo (1:58.3) and Go Long (1:58.1), along with Leg 2 winner Slim Jimmy (1:56.1) return to battle in the freshman trotting divisions. Sling Shock, who captured Legs 1 and 2 in 1:52 and 1:53.2 returns in the freshmen pacing ranks, along with Leg 2 winner Buckeye Seaside (1:52).

Amongst the 3-year-old trotting colts, the undefeated Winning Ticket returns to keep his crown intact. He’s scored in 1:55.3; 1:54; and 1:53.1 in OSS competition thus far this season. Peter’s Royalty, who captured Leg 3 in 1:56.2 also returns, as well as Panzano, who took Leg 2 in 1:55.3.
