Grove City, OH – The Ohio Standardbred Development Fund has announced several changes for the 2025 Ohio Sires Stake harness racing program. The changes include:
- All horses must start in at least two Ohio Sires Stakes legs to be eligible to start in the championships.
- In any Ohio Sires Stakes race leg, there shall be no more than one trailer.
- All non-purse finishers in the $100,000 Gray Championships (6th through 9th on a five-eighths mile track or 6th through 8th on a half-mile track) that start and finish the race will receive a $1,000 starter’s payment.
- The purse for the four Ohio Sires Stakes Veteran’s Championships will be raised to $100,000.
The changes approved by the OSDF, still need to be approved by the Ohio State Racing Commission at an upcoming meeting.
The Ohio Sires Stakes schedule for three-year-olds will begin on May 16, 2025. The first of five legs for two-year-olds will begin on July 12, 2025.
The Ohio Sires Stakes Scarlet Championships are scheduled for Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Hollywood Dayton Raceway. The Gray Championships will take place on Friday, September 26, 2025.
The Ohio Sires Stakes Veteran’s Championships are scheduled for August 30, 2025, at Eldorado Scioto Downs.
