On Higher Ground (Cassis) and harness racing driver Russell Foster won the $26,000 Open Handicap Trot at Bally’s Dover on Tuesday (Nov. 7) night.
Crystal Fashion, the even odds betting favorite, surged to the lead early from post 8. On Higher Ground floated on the outside trotting to the quarter. He then accelerated to the quarter in a rapid :27.1.
Crystal Fashion was forced to take a pocket seat. The half was reached in :55.4 and the three quarters were marched off in 1:24.4.
Muscle Dynasty raced 1st over past the half. That Ole Bar Stool followed 2nd over on the rim. On Higher Ground remained on cruise control into the stretch and won by a non-threatening three quarters of a length in 1:54. He paid $7.20 for the win.
On Higher Ground is owned by Robert Weinstein of NY and JB Racing of NJ and is trained by Jennifer Bongiorno. Crystal Fashion finished 2nd for driver Tim Tetrick. Chuck Crissman Jr trained. I Get It finished 3rd for trainer Scott DiDomenico. Victor Kirby drove.
ON HIGHER GROUND REPLAY
On Thursday Night November 9 the Three-Year-Old Matron Stakes arrive at Bally’s Dover. There are four divisions of the Matron Stakes.
Competition takes place on races 6, 8, 10, and 12. Confederate is entered to race in the 12th race $170,850 Matron Stakes for Three-Year-Old colt and gelding pacers. The race also honors former Brandywine Raceway President Hap Hanson.
There is a pick 5 carryover of $845.39 on races 6-10.and a Pentafecta carryover of $1,207.77 on the 15th race. Bally’s Dover races Monday thru Thursday with a Post Time at 4:30 pm.
