Oney Hall, the fastest harness racing trotter in all of Canada this season, posted his fifth straight victory Monday evening at Woodbine Mohawk Park in the $39,000 Preferred Handicap Trot.
Stung three-wide early on the first turn, Oney Hall and driver Trevor Henry took command at the quarter mile in :27 with Derf Hanover (Bob McClure) securing the two-hole spot behind the 3/5 race favorite.
Oney Hall had no challengers going to the half mile marker in :55.4. Then in the backstretch Pikachu Hanover (Doug McNair) came first-over, giving outside cover to All Wrapped Up (Louis-Philippe Roy) by the three-quarters in 1:24.4.
Once they started down the stretch, Oney Hall was up by four lengths and Henry held the field at bay to the wire, winning by three lengths in 1:52.3. It was a three-horse photo for place and show with Spartan General (Chris Christoforou) second, Patriarch Hanover (Sylvain Filion) third and Dream Nation (Scott Young) fourth.
