HAMBURG, N.Y. — Out On Bail (Western Terror-Leeva) ($14.80) didn’t need to post bond in Buffalo Raceway’s $14,500 Open I-II Pace on Saturday afternoon (May 6th) but he did manage toĀ ‘escape’ some major trouble early to post a head victory over Avion Seelster in 1:57.2 over the fast harness racing track.
After the scratch of Casimir Richie P, the field was reduced to just seven in the feature. Those numbers were then trimmed to four as the tempo-setting Secrecy broke just off the opening turn. That bobble scattered the field and ruined the hopes of Villiam and Dunkin’ Beach who did manage to regroupĀ to take fifth place.
Proven Desire, who avoided the breakers, inherited the lead and posted fractions of :30.3, :59.3 and 1:28.3. Out On Bail in the meantime was able to grab the pocket position and waited patiently as the race continued to develop. But hitting the three quarter marker, driver Kevin Cummings pulled Out On Bail to the outside to take control. But things got interesting late as Avion Seelster (Keith Kash Jr.) made one final thrust at the finish line but came up short. Just Plain Loco (David McNeight III) was third.
Owned by Michael Torcello and trained by Samuel Smith, it was the third win in 10 starts for the 6-year-old Out On Bail. The victory moved his seasonal earnings to $25,565 and $163,637 lifetime.
There was a trio of $11,500 paces on the card and Sportskeeper ($12.00) was the fastest as driver Jim Morrill Jr. guided him to the win in 1:54.3. Sporty Deal ($8.60) scored under the guidance of Keith Kash Jr. in 1:55.2 while Paprike Blue Chip ($10.40) was victorious for Kyle Cummings in 1:57.0.
Kash Jr. and Kevin Cummings each had three victories on the card with Morrill Jr. and Joseph Chindano getting two each.
Racing will return on Wednesday afternoon with an 11-race card scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
