Overthemoonforyou (Karpathian Kid), who has won 11 of her 12 starts at the meet, including a trio of Sire Stakes, has top billing in Friday night’s distaff pacing feature at Cal Expo.
There will be nine races presented by Watch and Wager LLC with first post set for 6:45 p.m.
Overthemoonforyou is a 4-year-old daughter of Karpathian Kid who has been brilliant at this stand for Qks Racing, trainer Quentin Schneider and pilot Aaron Lehman.
Her most recent victory came two weeks ago in the California Sire Stakes where she made every pole a winning while equaling her career standard with the 1:53 2/5 clocking.
This will be far from an easy assignment for Overthemoonforyou, as she will have to do her work from the outside post in the field of nine while taking on the likes of Wish I Had Thyme and Wavzeka, who have been knocking heads with the top distaffers Divine Art and Graceful Horizon of late.
Tommy Shelby does it again
Players who took 1-5 on Tommy Shelby last week had to be concerned when the field hit the top of the stretch and the pacer was being passed on the lead, unless they were students of history like announcer Scott Ehrlich.
Ehrlich hinted in his call at this point that the battle was not lost, and sure enough Tommy Shelby found a second wind and re-rallied for his third straight victory for owner/driver/trainer John MacDonald.
“He entered this race off back-to-back races where he got passed at the head of the lane and appeared to be defeated, only to come back on for the win,” Ehrlich said.
“So, when he got passed again at the head of the stretch, I knew there was a chance he’d come back on again, except this time it seemed like he had a taller mountain to climb because he had dropped back a little more than the last two starts.
“I’ve been following harness racing since 1977, and I’ve never seen that happen in back-to-back-to-back weeks.”

Coming into Friday’s card, Nick Roland is leading the driver’s race and is in a dead-heat atop the trainer standings.
Nick’s 51 scores in the sulky gives him a five-length lead over Luke Plano among the drivers, while his 29 training victories has him tied with Quentin Schneider.
