Manchego headlines the Maple Leaf Trot (Lisa photo)

There is plenty of harness racing action taking place Saturday night at Woodbine Mohawk Park. Aside from the eliminations for the $1 million Pepsi North America Cup for three-year-olds, there is the also eliminations for the Goodtimes Trot and the Fan Hanover Pace.

There are also three major Grand Circuit events taking place with the $590,000 Canadian Pacing Derby, $536,000 Maple Leaf Trot and the $316,000 Rose Are Red Finals.

The Canadian Pacing Derby is race 10 where Allywag Hanover (Captaintreacherous) may well be the horse to beat from post 7 for driver Todd McCarthy.

Allywag Hanover has been red hot as of late (Lisa Photo)

Allywag Hanover has not been beaten in his last two starts and four of his last six starts for trainer Brett Pelling. On Sun Stakes Saturday at Pocono Downs, he ripped off a 1:47.2 mile and prior week a 1:48 triumph while against the best pacers in North America.

Catch The Fire (Captaintreacherous) saw his impressive three-race win streak to come an end last week in the $100,000 #Senditit Invitational and looks for a rebound effort for driver Scott Zeron from post 8.

Then there is This Is The Plan (Somebeachsomewhere) starting from the rail for the first time in months for driver Yannick Gingras and Team Burke. Tattoo Artist (He’s Watching) is on a two-race win streak and goes from post 2 for driver Bob McClure.

Atlanta takes on Manchego again (Lisa Photo

The classic match-up of the night takes place in the 8th race $536,000 Maple Leaf Trot for older horses that will feature Manchego, the #1 Top Ten Poll leader going against rival and Hambletonian winner Atlanta.

Manchego (Muscle Hill) goes from post 7 for driver Dexter Dunn and is on a three-race win streak. She recently qualified for trainer Nancy Takter with a 1:53.1 triumph at The Downs, but has not raced for a purse since Hambo day. She is still the horse to beat in the race.

Atlanta (Chapter Seven) has put it all together her last two starts with very impressive scores in 1:50.1 and 1:50.4 for driver Yannick Gingras and the Ron Burke trained lass will seek to avenge earlier losses to Manchego.

Also in the field is Hambletonian winner Forbidden Trade (post 5) and Beads (post 2) who was second by a nose again Manchego the last time he raced.

Lyons Sentinel and driver Tim Tetrick (Lisa Photo)

The mare to beat in here is none other than Lyons Sentinel (post 1). The daughter of Captaintreacherous has been unstoppable as of late for Team Jim King, Jr. and driver Tim Tetrick, currently on a three-race winning streak.

Actually, a winner in three of her last four starts, Lyons Sentinel has shown true grit, grinding it out against the best mares in the national and continuing to win. She scored back-to-back 1:48.1 triumphs in two of her starts.

JK First Lady (post 4) is one of the mares that has beaten Lyons Sentinel and will be driven by Dexter Dunn for trainer Nancy Takter. She recently qualified with a strong win at The Downs in 1:50.3.

Other contenders in the field include Rocknificent (post 7), Machinhope (post 9) and So Much More (post 10).
