Hey Livvy (Donato Hanover) was at her best for harness racing driver Jordan Stratton as the seven-year-old mare was parked first-over and still was able to hold on in winning the $33,000 Fillies and Mares Open Handicap Trot Thursday at Yonkers Raceway.
The 7th race feature got underway with Dreamonhigh (George Brennan), the lone three-year-old filly in the field, take early command and led the field to the first quarter in :28.
Queen Of All (Austin Siegelman) grabbed the two-hole trip early as Hey Livvy with Stratton moved first-over from third place to challenge Dreamonhigh as they went by the half mile marker in :57.3.
Hey Livvy kept the pressure on in the backstretch with Plumb (Braxten Boyd) following second-over. By the three-quarters in 1:25.3, Hey Livvy had the lead on the outside, cleared on the final turn and was up by four lengths at the top of the stretch.
Taking it easy down the stretch, Hey Livvy held on to win by a half a length in 1:54.4 with Queen Of All second and Lady Jeter (George Brennan) coming on for third place.
