Monticello, NY— The 2-5 favorite Perfect Queen (American Ideal, Thomas Merton) won the $6,500 Open Fillies and Mares harness racing pace at Monticello Raceway on Monday afternoon (Mar. 25).
Perfect Queen grabbed the early lead, followed by Come Zoom With Me (Bruce Aldrich Jr). Twisty Wheat (Mcgwire Sowers) was racing in third as they came to the first quarter mile in :28.4.
Perfect Queen had the lead by a length over pocket trip Come Zoom With Me as they came by the stands for the first time. From the outside, Meadowbrook Krista (Jim Taggart Jr) rushed to steal second as they passed the half mile in :59.1.
At the three-quarter mile in 1:27.4, Perfect Queen was still on top, Meadowbrook Krista was racing in second and Come Zoom With Me followed in third.
Perfect Queen got the victory over Meadowbrook Krista in 1:56.3. Come Zoom With Me came in third.

Perfect Queen is a 5-year-old mare owned and trained by Tiffany Barrett. She paid $2.90 to win.
Gregory Merton and Mcgwire Sowers got driving doubles. Mcgwire Sowers also got a training double.
