Monticello, NY— Perfect Queen (American Ideal, Justin Huckabone) won the $6,000 harness racing pace at Monticello Raceway on Monday afternoon (Oct. 9).
Betting Hannah (Thomas Merton) took the early lead, with Princess Brisa (Jim Taggart Jr) on the inside in second. The favorite Caroline James (Bruce Aldrich Jr) stole the lead and left Betting Hannah a length back in second as they passed the quarter mile in :27.4.
As they came by the stand for the first time, Perfect Queen rushed to the front from the far outside, passing Caroline James and taking the lead. They passed the half mile in :57.2.
Perfect Queen was in front by a length and a half over Caroline James. Betting Hannah was racing in third as they passed the three-quarter mile in 1:25.4.
As they turned for home, Perfect Queen had a lead of three lengths over Caroline James. Perfect Queen crossed the wire in 1:56.1, two lengths ahead of Caroline James. Betting Hannah finished in third.

Perfect Queen, a 4-year-old mare, is owned and trained by Tiffany Barrett. She paid $7.80 to win.
