Given a perfect trip by harness racing driver Anthony Napolitano, Cerulean Hanover (Captaintreacherous) was able to capture the $16,000 feature pace Tuesday (Oct. 10) at Pocono Downs.
The 10th race main event saw Sparrow Hanover (George Napolitano, Jr.) scoot out to the early lead after the start with Cerulean Hanover grabbing the two-hole trip and Congressional (Simon Allard) stuck first-over early on the outside in third place as they went by the first quarter in :26.4.
Sparrow Hanover continued to lead the way with Congressional badgering the pacesetter to the half mile in :56. Then in the backstretch, Congressional began to fade by the three-quarters in 1:23. All the while, Cerulean Hanover and Anthony Napolitano were enjoying drafting in second place.
As they started down the stretch, Cerulean Hanover came after Sparrow Hanover and the two brothers, Anthony and George, battling it out to the finish with Cerulean Hanover winning by a half a length over Sparrow Hanover in 1:51.2. Race favorite Downrightdelicious (Matt Kakaley) was third.
CERULEAN HANOVER REPLAY
It was the sixth win this year for Cerulean Hanover. He is trained by Joe Pavia, Jr. for co-owners Jablonsky Held Stable, Joseph Barbera, Vincent Barbera and the Joe Pavia, Jr. Stable. He paid $9.80 to win.
