The enabling legislation to allow racing and simulcasting in Massachusetts was passed thru the Legislature on Thursday afternoon (Aug. 2) and has been signed into law by the Governor.
As a result, live racing will resume on Friday (Aug. 3) at Plainridge Park Casino. Post time will be at 4:00pm.
Eric Schippers, VP Public Relations and Government Affairs for Penn National Gaming, Inc. said "We're thankful to the Legislature, Massachusetts Gaming Commission and especially the urgent and able attention of our legislative delegation in resolving this issue and allowing for simulcasting and live racing to continue at Plainridge Park on Friday."
The track was forced to postpone the card scheduled for Thursday (Aug. 2) until Friday (Aug. 3) after the legislation permitting live racing in the commonwealth lapsed on Wednesday.
Thursday's (Aug. 2) double draw for Monday (Aug. 6) and Tuesday (Aug.7) will take place as scheduled later this afternoon.
Plainridge Park management appreciates everyone's understanding and patience over the past couple of days.
