Given a patience two-hole trip, Fizzing N (Mach Three) and harness racing driver Jim Marohn, Jr. were able to capture the $12,000 Preferred-Handicap Pace Saturday afternoon (Jan. 7) at Freehold Raceway.
Starting from post four, Marohn left with Fizzing N and they ended up stringing out race favorite Fortify (Austin Siegelman) through the opening quarter in :27.2.
Once settled on the lead, Fortify then led the field in single file order to the half mile in :56.4. Sombodyitreasure (Brett Beckwith) then came first over with Haggard (Jack Pelling) grabbing the second over cover as they reached the three-quarters in 1:25.1.
By the top of the stretch, Fortify was still in command but Fizzing N and Marohn started to come after them and they were able to collar Fortify in deep stretch and go on to win by three-quarters of a length in 1:53.3. Haggard was third.
FIZZING N REPLAY
Trained and co-owned by Shawn Vallee with D V P Racing Stable and D N V Racing Stable. The nine-year-old gelding paid $6.80 to win.
