Harness racing fun continued on Wednesday June 30th at Ocean Downs with Maryland Sire stakes Prelims high-lighting the night.
Once again āCaptainā Corey Callahan guided three year old Pride Of Windswept (Charlie De Vie) to victory in the first round preliminary for Maryland sired trotting fillies. Charging out from post six, the pair controlled every fraction in the perfectly rated 2:00.1 mile with Open Till Midnght (Four Starz Robro) finishing second. Shaun Callahan trains the filly for owner-breeders John and Sarah Swart. Pride Of Windswept now has 12 wins in 14 lifetime starts.
The three year old pacing colts and geldings went to post as race six on the very warm night at the ocean oval.
Dream Weaver (Capitol Power) flew down the stretch to catch the front running Real Made (Rustyās For Real) in the last steps to score the half length victory. Frank Lemon is the owner and breeder with Bart Bradley having the training duties. Corey Callahan was in the bike, scoring a stakes double.
The second round of Maryland Sire Stakes go to post on Monday July 5th and Wednesday July 7th. Ocean Downs will also be having the Ostrich and Camel races on Wednesday July 7th.
