The Maryland Standardbred Fund (foaled) stakes for three-year-olds wrapped up at Ocean Downs on Wednesday July 14th with two splits for harness racing trotting fillies and one for pacing colts and geldings.
The trotting fillies opened the card with K J Kyra (Donoto Hanover) coming from behind to charge down the stretch catching the frontrunning Whitesville Beulah (Anders Bluestone) in the last stride by a head. Jared Moyer was between the wheels for trainer John Wagner and owner/breeder Scott Woogen. Time for the mile was 2:00.1.
Goo Doo Doll (Googoo Gaagaa) a winner last year in the two year old Fund stake returned to the Ocean winners circle with a commanding win by 10 lengths in the second split for the three year old trotting fillies in the 1:57.1 mile, only a fifth off the stakes record. Russell Foster received the driving assignment from trainer Ed Gannon Jr. for owner Frank Canzone, Richard Hans was the breeder.
The final stake of the night was the sole division for pacing colts and geldings.
Reinsman Russell Foster made his second trip to the winners circle by sending Hippestcatintown (Sweet Lou) gate to wire, stopping the timer in a speedy 1:53.2 on the Ocean half mile oval.
Grand Cayman (Always B Miki) was up for the place position. Richard Hans owns and trains the winner, Michael Hans was the breeder.
