Ocean Downs hosted the Maryland Sire Stakes 4- & 5-Year-Old Open Pace on Wednesday July 5th before a great vacationing harness racing crowd.
The $25,300 event went to post as race 1 with a trio of “Open” class pacers behind the gate, Stunner’s Wish (Rusty’s For Real) the spring winner, Sea Ya Mystery (Rusty’s For Real) the 2022 winner and Anthony’s All In (Rusty’s All In) the place horse in the spring.
Stunner’s Wish controlled the front half in 56.2 with Anthony’s All In sticking a nose in front at the ¾ pole call in 1:25. Stunner’s Wish fought back to shatter the MSS aged gelding record, set in 2020 by Allie’s Finale, by 2 full seconds, stopping the timer in 1:53.2. Anthony’s All in took the place spot pacing in 1:53.3 with Sea Ya Mystery also pacing in 1:53.3.
Anthony Morgan piloted the winner for trainer Tim Crissman and owners Crissman Inc.
Three-year-old Maryland Sire Stakes action resumes on Monday July 10.
