Maryland Sire Stakes held at Ocean Downs

The two-year-old trotting fillies in the Maryland Sire Stakes opened the evening harness racing card at Ocean Downs with a $10,000 early non-wagering event on Wednesday Aug. 16th.

Reinsman Russell Foster sent Only I Exist gate to wire in her 10 ½ length victory in 2:03.3 over New Concept (Lockkeeper). Only I Exist from the first crop of Yall Beneath Me, continues a long line of winning homebreds from the Richard Hans Stable with the most notable being her grand sire Googoo Gaagaa.

The pacing colts and geldings went to post as race 5 on the card. Cloggs For Real (Rusty’s For Real) held off several challenges in the final quarter, the most serious from For You Girls (Dontloseyourdayjob) coming from seventh at the half to get within 1 ¼ lengths of Cloggs in the 2:00 mile. John Wagner drives and trains the winner for owner – breeder Pam Wagner.
