Ocean City, MD – Harness racing driver Russel Foster swept all three freshman Maryland Sire Stakes prelims and added three more wins for a “six pack” of wins on Monday night August 16th at Ocean Downs.
The Maryland Sire Stake preliminaries for freshmen colt and gelding trotters opened the card with Foster tucking Hoofbeats De Vie (Charlie De Vie) in the pocket till the head of the stretch, where the pair charged up to catch the front running Tungten Tim (Lockkeeper) by a head in 2:08.1. Chris Lakata trains the winner for owner-breeder Joie De Vie Farms.
The two splits for filly pacers went to post as races three and five.
In the first division, Grey Rocket (Cam’s Rocket) with Foster in the bike went wire to wire, to win her first lifetime start stopping the clock in 2:01.2. Lloyd’s Ladys (Rusty’s All In) took the place spot. Grey Rocket is owned, Bred and trained by Roger Hans.
Race 5, the final stake of the night, was the second split for the two year old filly pacers.
Foster finished his sweep of the stakes, once again in gate to wire fashion behind Predict The Future (Rusty’s All In) 5 ¼ lengths ahead of Janet’s For Real (Rusty’s For Real) in the 1:59.4 mile. Steve LeBlanc is the trainer of Predict The Future for owner-breeder William Solomon.
To complete his six bagger Russell Foster also won races 4, 6 and 9.
