ALBANY, N.Y. – The Agriculture & New York State Horse Breeding Development Fund has announced the New York Sire Stakes, Excelsior Series and County Fair 2024 harness racing program schedules.
New York Sire Stakes
The 2024 New York Sire Stakes season begins on Monday, May 20, at historic Yonkers Raceway in Yonkers, N.Y. Across 57 race days, the New York Sire Stakes will feature 2- and 3-year-old Colt and Filly Pace and Trot races at racetracks across New York State.
The season will culminate with the annual “Night of Champions” event on Saturday, September 7, at Yonkers Raceway. View the complete schedule, click here.
Excelsior Series
Yonkers Raceway will host the opening race of the 2024 Excelsior Series season on Monday, May 20. The Excelsior Series will feature 2-and 3-Year-Old Colt and Filly Pace and Trot races on 59 race days, concluding with the Excelsior Series Finals taking place on Friday, September 13, at Vernon Downs Casino Hotel in Vernon, N.Y. County Fair Series
Goshen Historic Track in Goshen, N.Y., will host the first race of the 2024 County Fair Series on Friday, July 5. Following an 18-race schedule, the County Fair Series Finals will take place on Sunday, September 1, at Goshen Historic Track. View the complete schedule, click here.
The New York Sire Stakes is the state’s premier harness racing program for 2- and 3-year-old Standardbreds. Established to encourage the breeding, buying and racing of Standardbred horses in New York State, it is the nation’s oldest harness racing program of its kind and has served as a model for state-bred racing programs.
