Prospectors Gold, Lady Saturn shine in twin features

Prospectors Gold (Greg Merton) and Lady Saturn (Brett Crawford) take co-features at Tioga Downs on Friday (September 12).

Prospectors Gold ($9.18) grabs the $10,000 featured pace.

Captain Up (Braxten Boyd) led to the quarter in :26.3.  He used a :28.2 second quarter to be first to the half in :55.0.  Captain Up continued to lead and led to three-quarters in 1:22.4.

As they made the turn for home Prospectors Gold popped out of the pocket and went on by winning in 1:51.4.  Always B Elvis (Jim Pantaleano) came charging late to finish second.  Captain Up had to settle for third.

PROSPECTORS GOLD REPLAY

Prospectors Gold is a 6-year-old gelding by Huntsville.  He is owned and trained by Gary Levine.  It was his ninth win this year.  He now has 20 career victories.

Lady Saturn ($11.82) captures the $10,000 featured fillies & mares’ pace.

Alabama Hannah (Jim Pantaleano) carved out all the early fractions.  She was first to the quarter in :27.3 and first to the half in :57.2.  Lady Saturn made her move first-up going down the backstretch.  Alabama Hannah led to three quarters in 1:25.2.

As they headed for home second place finisher Alabama Hannah and Lady Saturn started trading blows.  Lady Saturn surged ahead late to win in 1:53.3.  Charming Vixen (Tyler Miller) finished third.

LADY SATURN REPLAY

Lady Saturn is a 4-year-old mare by Huntsville.  She is owned by Dragon Tales Farm and trained by Michelle Crawford.  It was her fifth win this season.  She now has 13 career victories.

Braxten Boyd had a driving grand slam.  He got his wins with Ideal Beauty Queen, Miley Rose, Scootnroll, and Mickie Mantle.

Tioga Downs returns to live racing on Saturday (September 13) with a post time of 6:15 p.m.
