WASHINGTON, PA, Jan. 17, 2024 — Pure Poetry (Creatine-Chaka Khan) made the last stanza her strongest, rallying through the lane to snap a 56-race losing streak and spring a 21-1 upset in Wednesday’s (Jan. 17) harness racing co-feature at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows, a $10,900 Filly & Mare Conditioned Trot.
With nearly half the field off stride at different points in the race, Shawn Johnston kept Pure Poetry to her task. The 6-year-old edged past L Dees Maria in deep stretch and downed her by a head in 2:02. Global Gal finished third.
Lester Mullet trains Pure Poetry for Heidi Mullet.
