Racine Bell (So Surreal) and harness racing driver Jason Bartlett lived up to their race favorite status in capturing the $36,000 Fillies and Mares Open-Handicap Pace Friday (May 19) at Yonkers Raceway.
Delitfulcatherin N (Jordan Stratton) left from post 7 at the start of 7th race feature and then gave way to Racine Bell, who came flying up on the outside to take command by the opening quarter mile in :28.
Stepping it up a notch, Racine Bell kept the field at bay, leading by two and one-quarter lengths at the half mile marker in :56.3. There was no threat from the outside until Drama Act (George Brennan) came first-over in the backstretch and was in second place by the three-quarters in 1:24.3.
Racine Bell and Bartlett kept up the pace around the final turn and down the stretch, going on to win by one and one-quarter lengths in 1:52.3. Delitfulcatherin N was second with Drama Act third.
RACINE BELL REPLAY
It was the fourth win this year for Racine Bell. The six-year-old mare is trained by David Dewhurst for owners Chris Lawton and Dale Lawton. She paid $3.90 to win.
