BATAVIA – The Batavia Downs harness racing track has been forced to cancel racing for Sunday due to a lack of entries.
Live racing at the track will continue as scheduled Friday and Saturday nights with a 6:15 p.m. starting time.
“We regret to have to cancel Sunday’s program,” said Todd Haight, the track’s director of racing. “But there is currently a horse shortage in Western New York and while every effort was made by our racing department to fill Sunday’s program, those efforts proved unsuccessful.”
The track’s Old Fashioned Day celebration, which had been scheduled for Sunday, has been rescheduled for Aug. 7.
