Given a perfect two-hole drive by Trevor Smith, Racing For Three (Western Terror) not only won the $34,000 Fillies & Mares Open Handicap Pace Sunday (April 21) at Miami Valley Raceway, but the four-year-old mare also notched her fourth straight win.
Racing For Three had early control of the race as Alexa Skye (Trace Tetrick) took the lead away at the opening quarter mile in :27.3. Once settled in command, Alexa Skye led the field to the half mile in :55.2 as Ainthesamewithoutu (Tony Hall) started up first-over with Anthem (Jeremy Smith) following the live cover.
Down the backstretch, Ainthesamewithoutu could not collar Alexa Skye past the three-quarters in 1:23.1 and all the while Racing For Three and Smith were sitting in the garden spot, getting ready to pounce.
As they started down the stretch, Alexa Skye was gonna get caught as Racing For Three had plenty of pace to win in 1:51.4 by three-quarters of a length. Finishing second was Mossdale Lottee N (Sam Widger) who was 7th at the top of the stretch and gave a valiant closing effort. Ainthesamewithoutu was third.
