Long time standardbred harness racing owner and breeder and the CEO of Ross Bicycles Randy Ross passed away suddenly at the age of 67 on December 25, 2024, Christmas day while celebrating Christmas with his family. He was born on Arril 17, 1957. He was proceeded in death by his parents Sherwood and Barbara Ross and his ex-wife Paula.
As the CEO of Ross Bicycles, in 1983 he had launched the first mountain bike racing team, the Ross Indians and he was widely considered the father of mountain bike racing. During his life he manufactured, built and sold over 25 million bikes. He also built custom bikes for many celebrities and professional athletes. His Ross Bicycles were featured in the movies Easy Money and Gung Ho.
Randy loved harness racing and first got involved with the sport as an owner in 1979. He raced his horses under his own name and the Cheyenne Racing Stable. He owned many horses and won many stakes and overnight races. His list of trainers includes Vinny Aurigemma, Winky Mellow, Hakan Wallner, Berndt Linstead, Jan Johnson, Tommy Haughton, Daryl Bier, Jenn Bongiorno, Greg Peck and Pat Lachance.
Randy leaves behind his son Shaun, daughters Samantha and Cheyenne, sister Candy, daughter-in-law Carly, grandsons Adam and Oliver, nephews EJ and Bobby, extended family and many friends.
The memorial and celebration of life will be held on Sunday, January 5th, 2025, at 4:00pm and will be held at 455 S. Biscayne River Drive, Miami, FL 22169
All friends and family are invited.
The graveside burial will be held at the Beth David Cemetery, 300 Elmont Road, in Elmont, NY, on January 8th at 1PM. Phone number 516 328-1300.
