RB (Megatron – Getoutthediamonds) and owner/driver/trainer Kim Pluta captured the featured $10,800 Open Pace on the Friday night (Jan. 19) harness racing program at Northville Downs.
Commander Bob rocketed up to take over the early lead from his outside position with pilot Marc St. Louis, Jr. as RB left alertly for a pocket ride. They went to the opening quarter in 28.4 and a half in 58.2 as Another Daily Copy came first over looking to challenge. But as the field looked to three-quarters, the top pair sprinted away from the field by three lengths, tripping the beam to three-quarters in 1:26.2 (28 second third quarter). As they came into the stretch, RB pounced from the pocket and the trip prevailed as RB got the nod in the photo finish, winning by a head over Commander Bob, in 1:55.4, which was the night’s fastest mile of the night. The win was the 18th of RBs career.

Justin Irvine, Kim Pluta and Kody Massey had driving doubles on the night.
